Winter Golf Substitutes– A Guide To The Golf Domes Of Cook County
As I go into my third season of golf, I feel like I am ready to take the Big Boy Step and Break 100. However, I have one bridge that stands in the way of sure-fire improvement: Winter.
I live in Illinois and living here in the upper Midwest does not help one obtain a smooth, upwardly pointing improvement curve. It reacts more like the stock market graphs you see with seasonal upswings followed by incredible lows. You see, us northerners only get 5 or 6 months of weather that is warm enough to allow a full 18 holes of golf.
To my way of thinking this means that I am at a real disadvantage when it comes to crafting my golf game to meet my full potential. For every 12 months of playing time, a person in living in Houston could have played 24 months. This year however, I am ready to ensure that I am improving my game and consistency.
So, I have done the following:
1. Developed my own golf tips website at http://yourbestgolftonight.com to tally all of my best “golf swing” conclusions;
2. Read even more online guides to help me learn how to improve on the cheap;
3. Promised to hit golf balls at least once a week to ensure that my game doesn’t go away.
So I went to Google and looked at the term ‘golf domes in Cook County’. I found that there are about three or so located in Cook County with the closest being about 10 miles away. Now who is in control, huh? Take that!
Anyhow, the best golf tips that I find credible and that I believe really helped me improve my game say that every time you practice, you should make a goal for yourself to hit.
This is tricky given that most golf domes are about 100 yards in length. One of the domes I have visited has sort of solved that problem, especially when you swing the longest clubs in your golf bag.
White Pines Golf Dome in Bensenville IL is cool in that they have bulls-eye targets at different heights along the back wall as well as simulated greens and obstacles. It doesn’t hurt that White Pines is temperature regulated to be a balmy 72 degrees on our worst winter days, either! Fantastic!
If I am going to meet my goal of consistently playing in the 90’s this summer, I know that I have to not only maintain my game during the off season but I also have to markedly improve in a few key areas. I love the fact that I live near places that will allow me to get the practice that I need for cheap with relative comfort!
Yeah, I’ll definitely take that versus wearing a hole in my living room carpeting anyday.
