My Apology To Phil

Okay, I want to say right here and now, Phil I apologize. Yes, I did say that. Especially after writing and questioning whether you had peaked to soon. But how was I to know that you would play so well after playing so bad and missing the cut the week before. Maybe there is some pride in you there.

I have to say that you and Tiger put on one of the greatest showings that I have ever witnessed for the Masters last week. This is what everyone has been waiting on for a long time and both of you did not disappoint us. Wish the final few holes could have been better but you both have teased us for now.

We as fans have always thought that you two could carry the sport the way Jack, Arnie, Lee, Gary, Raymond, Johhny… well you get the idea, did. Now expectations will always not live up to the hype but you have energized the golfing world and this will be talked about for quite a while. I know there was lots of discussions around the water coolers this past Monday morning. And the conversations still linger.

I will now have to look at you with a different perspective. Although I know you will not be on your game each and every start maybe you have shown yourself that you do have the fire in you and you can be a rival for Tiger. That is what everyone wants to see.

We as fans can understand the family commitment you have and I do admire it. And the way you have started to work on your conditioning shows that you do have the desire. Just let it show more in your golf game. I can even understand your go for it attitude and I admire that in you. It will be up to Bones to take those wrong clubs out of your hands at the wrong time.

Again Phil I want to say that I apologize for doubting that you would be a factor with this past Masters. Just know that I like everyone else will now expect more from you and we will be watching you in your next tournament. Thanks for a spectacular Sunday.
