Golf clubs from Callaway are one of, if not the most renowned in the golf world. This is quite an achievement as they have not been around for as long as nearly all of it’s competitors. In fact the company was founded in the early 1980′s when Ely Callaway bought a share in Hickory Stick and by 1982 Callaway Golf was formed.

Maybe it is the company’s innovative side that has transformed them into such a big player in the golfing community. The huge Big Bertha driver that the company launched a few years ago was ridiculed at first but now adorns many a fairway all over the world. And Fusion Technology, emblazoned so proudly on many of their clubs is another example of forward thinking, by using multiple materials to achieve near perfection in the golf club.

When it comes to choosing golf club sets all the technological terms can be a bit confusing, especially to the novice or amateur player. On the company website several of the technologies are explained in detail and you can see just how far golf clubs have evolved over the last 20 or 30 years. If you are a keen golfer you will understand the great importance of the weight distribution in the club head and Callaway have addressed this in many of their irons by cutting a channel in the back of the club head, which has the effect of changing the center of gravity. By lowering the center of gravity the “sweetspot” is effectively enlarged and the club stabilty is also better.

They have also applied this keen innovation to the golf ball, changing the traditional dimpled ball to one covered with a hexagon pattern which improves the aerodynamics.  But it is probably the improvements made to Callaway golf clubs that is of most interest to the golf enthusiast.
