5 Reasons Why 2010 Will Be A Better Year For Tiger Woods

Yes, you read that right. I think 2010 will be a better year for Tiger Woods. Now don’t get me wrong, he has won 3 times this year, By most standards that would be a pretty dramatic year for most PGA tour players.

For most tour golfers three wins would put them in the running for player of the year. But we are talking about Tiger Woods here.

Tiger does have those wins and they were done in dramatic fashion but I would say that the other guys gave it to him more than they won it.
This was not one of those blow the field away kind of wins. It took some real grit and determination on his part. Something we are use to seeing from Tiger for sure.

But here are my reasons that Tiger will be better next year:

1. Tiger’s body needs a rest- We all know that Tiger’s knee was repaired and he had to re-hab to get ready for this season. But what do you want to bet that he went overboard trying to get ready for the season. With a little extra training that even his doctor was not pleased with. Next season he will resume his normal routine of getting in shape for the season. No need for all that intense extra stuff.

2. More confidence in his surgically repaired knee- It has taken a few months for Tiger to really test that knee in competition. You could see early on that he did not quite trust it. He has now regained some confidence and is moving better at the ball but no need to rush it.

3. He will have more of a full year schedule- Tiger started the gold season with the Accenture Match Play Championship where he won one round before his elimination. Normally by then he would have played at least two maybe three tournaments to prepare. he will have that opportunity next year.

4. Tiger will feel he let two majors get away- The first three majors this year Tiger has gotten off to a slow start. Yes, not unusual but I think it put just a little added pressure on his trying to recover and with the first two majors he was just a little to far back to recover. And he never got a chance at th British Open. And you know how Tiger enjoys the majors. Although I will add that Tiger is not a golfer who plays well in the elements. And this goes way back to his early days.

5. The young guns are a coming- All of the younger players see a wounded animal out there that is just ripe for the taking. I think that Tiger Woods has a message for those hot shots and something to prove, that he is still the top dog out there. He will be ready.

So goes my theory as to why I think that 2010 will be a better year for Tiger Woods. He has a few critics out there that might want to say he has a ways to go to get back to pre-injury days. I think he is very close to being there and with some additional rest and relaxation with the wife and kids that hunger and drive will return. I can’t wait for the new year to begin.

And oh by the way we still have one more major for him to show his greatness. Did you hear the press talk about this is the first time that no trophy was in the possession of Mr. Woods. Another chance to change that Tiger. Looking forward to it.
